Most especially, it demolished the ancient belief that a man who fathered a child was responsible for that child and for its mother. Whenever I look at the outcome of the sexual revolution so far, it looks to me to have been a charter for unpleasant, selfish men. The diseases, by contrast, remain an undeniable problem. But my guess is that the widespread use of the morning-after pill, combined with mass abortion on demand, has brought this about. This plan has not worked out exactly as intended There are, beyond doubt, fewer unwanted babies than you might expect given the amount of recreational sex now going on. This project, we often forget, was brought in to reduce unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease. Let us hope, for instance, that this will be more successful than half a century of sex education has been. Wasn’t Sir Keir Starmer taught to respect women during his upbringing?
